In 1947, SURE-GRIP came out with the "Double Action" skate which improved the handling of its skates dramatically. By introducing the large rubber cushion and rubber pivot insert concept for use in the skate’s trucks, skaters gained a lot of maneuverability and better turning capability. This rubber cushion system is still used in SURE-GRIP skates today! Also in that same year, SURE-GRIP introduced lightweight aluminum plates, which led to the development of the toe-stop, which not only allows one to stop, but, compete creatively as well.
Todays most popular selling SURE-GRIP products are the Boxer skates, Carrera skates, all of the Fame high-top outfits, Rock skates (with the flames), and the GT-40 skates. Currently SURE-GRIP has put out the GT-50, which is the revamped and restyled version of the GT-40 skates. The outdoor market is booming once again like in the 1970’s, so SURE-GRIP is also maintaining their line of outdoor products. Also, SURE-GRIP sees huge evolution in the rental skate area coming within the next decade. SURE-GRIP has made the Evolution rental skate, which is innovative and unlike anything else out in the rinks today. The rinks will want something new, exciting, and different for their rental selection and SURE-GRIP will be there to answer. A few other exciting and growing outlets are the Roller Derby and Rhythm skating.
