I have been skating for 34 years, and would highly recommond these Skates for all skaters that weight under150 Lbs. The Plate can only hold Max Weight of 150,then it will FLEX AND BEND with extra weight. These Skate will last you alongtime if you take care of them and keep them out of sun light and in Heat. The price is worth the investment for your kids and beginner Skaters.I got my first pair in 1995 and they finally retired in 2003. I have skated the stock setup for 2.5 yrs now and these skates are still going strong. My only concern is that the velcro is separating from the straps, but this is to be expected after so much use. PROS -lightweight but sturdy enough for me (155lbs). I skate these things HARD. Plow stops, jumps, duck walks, run on toes stops etc. Plates are good to go. -toe box is wide. Some of the other skates where the laces go all the way down the toe hurt my wider feet. -best cheap beginners skate, especially for derby. CONS -The ankle does take some breaking in. Just use gauze and ducktape to protect your skin until they do break in. -The insole wears out fast. I recommend three oz. miracle or riedell/sure grip insoles as replacements. The toes are going to wear down if you don't put duck tape or toe guards on them. You will have to upgrade the wheels to something softer (like most stock packages). Upgrade the toe stops to a Gumball or Snyder. Replace the stock cushions with something softer. Then you are good to go!

I bought these skates 5 years ago after not skating for years. I grew up skating so my expectations were high. I have found these skates to be very good quality. I skate two to three times a week now and they are still in great shape after 5 plus years. I just now decided to upgrade my wheels and bearings. I bought the Atom Juke 2.0 88a and juice 9 bearings and it just makes me enjoy them more. I don't think of these as Derby skates but know of plenty of people using them with little to no problems. Great skates for the price, so much so I just bought my girlfriend a pair of the R3's.

I just got these 2 months ago for derby and I am not too happy. The uppers are not not breaking in nicely, they are listed as leather but I doubt they really are, they are still stiff and not at all broken in (I skate 2-3x per week) The toes are already worn down. Also the wheels are lousy, I already ordered replacements. I should have spent more money and bought better boots, because I feel like I will be ordering better ones soon.
