I had the old Black Diamond plates and love them. I picked up these plates at a derby tournament and immediately fell in love with them...until last year when my truck fell off during a bout warm up. My king pin snapped and because it is a little longer than most king pins, nobody had one to fit my skate. We ended up having to rig the plate on using a short pin until after the bout and now I'm skating on a plumbing screw. What I'm finding is that because the holes where the truck connects to the plate is nylon, it wears down and the trucks get super loose and fall out. My plates are only two years old and I've skated apx. 10 bouts in them which is why I'm giving the plate only 3 stars. I love the single action trucks and lightweight of these, but for derby, it appears I need something more sturdy.

I have a custom made stainless steel laser plate from the same design has all the same parts far as trucks,bolts...and I changed from a dbl. action to a single big diff. as soon as i mounted the plates and snugged the trucks down it was ready to roll from the get no tweaking like dbl actions that are hard to get set for comfort..these plates make you feel like your floating across the floor..and Im 28 and work at a rink..highly rec...pic of skate on facebook""john travis suddeth""thanks for your time..

I have had these plates with Ridell 595 boots, Hyper Cannible and swiss 2 peice for more than 20 yrs. They have been through hell and back a few times. I would never own another set of plates other than these.

I've skated on a Laser Plate for like 20 Years no BS I got my 1st when they first dropped I was into competitive speed and jam skating The best plate out they had a great lifetime warrenty back then I was around 14-15yrs old. I'm 34 now, well about 7 years ago my friend took to me The Skate Key (Sun Nites Are CRAZY HOT a Jam skaters Dream -25 and over w/ID....NUTZ! mad chicks but u better b able to skate 4 realla). I had rentals I was so upset my skates were in my moms garage down south. I ordered a new boots 595, and I called laser, still they were in biz they honored their warrenty traded up my plate for a bigger size (growth exchange program for exsisting laser owners) and custom built me a size 14. How cool was that? When I went back wow, now the plate is even better, they come helicoiled from the factory for the threads trucks, stoppers I got a set of the new super wammy cushions( standard now i'm sure) They were fire like a triple action-the main cushion inner core has adjustable hardness they were amazing then and even better now light flexible keep the wheels with perfect contact with the floor. I still got it them being light helps (As a kid you do realize skating is a WORKOUT) Do your self a favor try these you will never go back to the trac's again TOO heavy and stiff to jam. If you pose they might not have the bling, they're like a glock SIMPLE NO BELLS AND WHISTLES THEY JUST WORK), but anyone who really skates will know these are a must have AS SOON AS YOU ROLL ON THE FLOOR.worth every cent. I'm gonna get the elite they're sick! I'll just have 2 one in both state I skate no more lugging then on the plane...ther're just that good. I still skate those 20 year old original trucks they are tough as nails but smoother than water..lighter than air never let me down and I am 6ft 6+ and 275lbs who skates hard homies.
