Riedell Vixen Quad Speed Skates

Riedell Skates

The Vixen is designed for reliable performance and high levels of comfort in a skate package that is a bit more than a traditional starter skate. The 165 boot is made of leather outers for abrasion and stress resistance but also has a soft-padded lining for a comfortable fit.

The bottom of the Vixen is built around the rigid response of the aluminum PowerDyne Thrust plates that transfer your power efficiently and without any flex. Grippy 88A Radar Striker wheels keep you firmly planted on the track and the KwiK ABEC-5 bearings installed inside those wheels roll smoothly, quietly, and quickly. The Vixen is a great skate for those who are just getting started in derby but who also want a skate that will grow with them as they get better.

It's all about perspective

I was in a rink skate and researched this skate heavily. I eventually want to do derby. I like having the metal plates, if that isn't your thing, then this isn't your skate. I also wear a size 11 shoe, and my rink skate was a size 9. I ordered a 10 in this and it fits perfectly. It is important to note that they DO run narrow. I tried on a different skate model for sizing and a size 9 pinched my toes, a 10 was great. Skating in these are just amazing! I do not have anything negative to say! :)
Dont do it!

The skates are super heavy, run narrow, and my feet were screaming 20 minutes in. Had I of done my research a bit more, I wouldn've gone with a different skate, and a better plate. These feel like 5lb weights on each of my feet.

they are good skates, but still for beginners. they are quite heavy, but if you are starting derby i recommend them. if you are looking for an upgrade, i would highly suggest a higher class skate. i wish i would've known that.

I am a 3 year derby skater and have had these skates for over a year now, and they are not suitable for FLAT FEET. It makes my feet hurt on the outside of my left foot. Also, VERY heavy!
Great starters

These skates are great for first and second year skaters. They are stable, and allow a lot better agility than nylon plates. Break in was a breeze, though they run a little narrow. Downsides: The plates are super heavy, had I known what a huge difference it would have made down the road, I'd have bought a lighter skate for the extra money.
