BLACK SKATES:

Unless otherwise noted, all black or other color (besides white) skates are in mens sizes
and they run true to size (to your shoe size).
Unless otherwise noted, skates do not come in half sizes.
Normally you will want to go up to the next size if you wear a half size.
Ladies should go one size down from their shoe size for mens sizes.
Example: A lady with a size 8 shoe would get a size 7 in the mens black skate.
Under size 5, ladies should get their same size and not go down.
Unless otherwise noted, all speed skates (low top boots) are in mens sizes.

WHITE SKATES:

Unless otherwise noted, all white speed skates (low top boots) are in Mens sizes.
Unless otherwise noted, all white recreational/art skates (high top boots) are in Ladies sizes
and they run true to size (to your shoe size).
Unless otherwise noted, skates do not come in half sizes.
Generally, it's a good idea to go up to the next size if you wear a half size.

More Info:

Children:

Children's shoes begin in the Juvenile sizes. Your child's first shoes may have been a J1. They go up to J13. When a child gets to size 1, the size scale is the same as adult shoes. A child's 4 is the same as an adult's 4. Many parents find it economically advisable to order one size larger for younger children while their feet are growing so quickly. Then they wear two pairs of socks for a few months.

Riedell Artistic & Recreational Quad Boots:

These boots are sized like street shoes. A few of the more expensive boots come in half sizes and wide. The white is sized for ladies. A man desiring a white boot should order one size larger than his shoe size. The black is sized for men. The width is similar to B/C width shoes in finer shoe stores. (Most men's shoes are D width.) A lady desiring a black boot would need to order one size smaller than her shoe size for size 6 up. It is important to remember that these are classic boot styles. The toe area is not cut as wide and rounded as the current shoe styles. If you are considering, or are purchasing, a Custom outfit, we suggest that you have the boots shipped to you for sizing since mounted custom skates may not be returned.

Chicago and Pacer Recreational Boots:

These boots are sized like street shoes. Therefore, you would order the same size as you would shoes. The white is sized for ladies . A man desiring a white boot should order one size larger than his shoe size. The black and silver are sized for men. Therefore a lady desiring a black or silver boot would need to order one size smaller than her shoe size for size 6 up. If you are considering, or are purchasing, a Custom outfit, we suggest that you have the boots shipped to you for sizing since mounted custom skates may not be returned.

Pacer 429 Boots:

These boots are sized for men and run wide. The uppers on the LT429 and R429 are cut open all the way to the toe, which gives more width flexibility than other styles.

Other Pacer Quad Speed Boots:

These boots are all sized for men. The width is similar to "off the rack" shoes.

Riedell Quad Speed Boots (excluding Carrera):

These boots are all sized for men. The width is similiar to shoes in finer shoe stores: B/C. In general, ladies need to order one size smaller than their shoe size for sizes 8 and up. I recommend going to a fine shoe store and being sized for a man's shoe.

New Style Carrera Speed Boots: Carrera Skates by Riedell run smaller than most skates due to the abundance of padding. The size of the skate is the same as the size as men's shoes but the padding makes them too snug for most people's comfort. Therefore, we offer the following suggestions: Men ordering Carrera need one size larger than their shoe size. If their feet are wide, they need two sizes larger as Riedell boots are B/C width. Ladies ordering Carrera need their shoe size for sizes 5 and down. (Ladies with narrow feet can usually wear one size smaller than their shoe size.) Sizes 6 and up need one size smaller.

Recreational, and Aggressive In-Lines:

These boots are all sized for men. Ladies need to order one size smaller than their shoe size for sizes 6 up. To confirm your size, you may wish to try on a pair of men's shoes from a "rack" shoe store. (Wal-Mart, PayLess, etc.)

Speed In-Lines:

The US boots are all sized for men. Therefore, ladies need to order one size smaller than their shoe size. The European boots are sized by your measurement in millimeters and then translated to a US size. Each manufacturers sizes are different. The sizes listed with each skate are approximate, and the best we can do without your measurement. To get the best sizing information, measure your foot and send the measurement to me along with the type of boot you are interested in.

  1. Find a hard solid floor surface which meets a flat wall surface.
  2. Do a foot tracing by putting a piece of paper on the floor with one edge of the paper touching the wall.
  3. Stand on the paper with the upper part of your heel lightly touching the wall and with your toes flat.
  4. Trace out from the wall around your toes. Be careful to trace the exact length. Both feet are required to determine the largest foot.
  5. Measure the length of the longest toe on both feet in millimeters. Take the longest heel to toe measurement and email it to me to find out your size.
