I've been rolling on this plate for 5 years. The only think I've had to replace on these is a hanger ($6 from Sure-Grip) that was damaged due to me not making sure the king pin was seated correctly. The plate is pretty light for steel (thanks in partial to a stopper less design), but noticeably heavier than my old vinyl plates. What you loose in weight gain, you gain in steering control. The ball and socket action plus the over sized action cushions gives outstanding control at this price point. When properly adjusted, you will be able to weave in and out of skate traffic without lifting your skates off the floor. I don't know another plate that provides this level of value. This plate is probably a good fit of most skaters of any skill level or skating style, unless you skate Detroit style, which I would recommended the Classic with the toe stopper.
