Good protection, but...

I'm typically an outside pack ref and have a bad habit of knee sliding up to the white board. I bought these a few months ago, and they've done a very good job protecting my skates. They're too tight on the skates (even after oven forming) and the single lace mount causes pressure on the top of my toes. I took them off when I started shopping for new skates & have been much more comfortable. I bought a new pair for my new skates, but I plan to modify them.
Hated them

I used these for two weeks. Every time I went down in a knee slide the button dug into the top of my foot in an extremely painful way. I tried using some padding as another reviewer suggested but it didn't help and my the toes of my skates uncomfortably tight. They are very effective at protecting the boot but it's not worth it to me. I'm going back to the leather straps.
Love 'em

These have lasted me more than a year and would probably last me longer if I didn't tend to use them as a drag stopper. The only problem I had is that the button smarts if you end up smacking the top of your toes in a fall. I compensated by sticking bunion/corn toe pads under the snap--and learning how to fall with better form.
Wish I bought these

I am currently using the Riedell leather toe savers- the poor design uses the laces to hold down the toesaver, on first use my laces have shredded. I have heard great reviews on this toe saver and wish I had gone for this style instead.
Only lasted three sessions

I ordered these because I'm pretty hard on my skates. I wore them for two practices and one bout. On the foot I tend to drag more, I wore a hole in them. On the other foot, the grommet that attaches to the toe guard that holds it onto your skates laces pulled/ripped right out of the leather. I had to punch two holes in the leather and lace them like the standard toe guards to be able to keep using them. Not much longer after I did that, did I wear a hole into that one too. Fantastic and practicle concept, however the final product didn't hold up.
